Today Genetically modified organisms (GMO) are forbidden in organic farming according to the present legislation EC Regulation 2092/91/EEC – organic products are not, therefore, produced with genetically modified raw materials or ingredients.
This is very important to us because Provamel believes in natural quality and purity. But, as genetic modification is a relatively new technique and scientists are not certain about the possible long-term consequences of the introduction of GMO’s in the environment and for human health, we decided to take no risks.
So we are not only eliminating Non GM soya beans, we have developed a complete Non GM system. In practical terms, this means that a complete system of supervision and control has been implemented to safeguard and monitor the organic and non GM status of the soya beans and ingredients.
