Greenhouse gasses such as CO2 retain heat in the earth’s atmosphere. They are responsible for increases in temperature due to the sheer volume with which they are released into our atmosphere. Global warming in turn leads to rising sea levels, desertification, changes in rainfall patterns, polar ice melting and other well documented climactic changes.

CO2 is released by burning fossil fuels both in transport and in producing energy. Deforestation and livestock are also responsible for considerable amounts of CO2 being released into the atmosphere.

Food and drink production inevitably involves large amounts of energy and water usage. The trick is to use these resources as smartly and sustainably as possible.
