We call our approach and attitude to doing business the ‘3-P’s’.
In a nutshell it means that we not only strive to act and operate in an ethical and sustainable fashion but we employ a number of independent outside inspectors to ensure that our fine words are matched by our deeds in every way possible.
As members of the EcoSocial® programme we are required to meet strict social, sustainable, ethical and ecological standards at every stage of manufacture.
Everything from how and where a crop is planted through to the quality of life and pay of third world farmers, the manufacture of our products and the journey to your plate are all subject to the minutest independent scrutiny and inspection.
Here are just a few examples of how our 3 Ps work in practice:
P is for People: We’re active in both the third world and in our local communities to ensure that our impact is both seen and felt to be positive. The small farmers with whom we work and who are an integral part of the Provamel family are fairly rewarded, have the security of a long term contract and are protected from the vagaries of world prices and poor harvests.
P is for Planet: We categorically never will and never have sourced our organic soya beans on the open commodity market where their origin is uncertain but only ever from small farmers who farm organically, away from rainforest areas and without the use of chemical pesticides and artificial fertilizers. We produce our own green electricity, our production process is carbon neutral, we use recycled paper in our offices and we’re progressively introducing barge transport at our factory in Belgium as a means of reducing our dependence on road transport. P is for Profit: We’re in business for the long term and we can only survive and guarantee the livelihoods of the people we work with, the communities we work in and the suppliers who are dependent on us if we in turn flourish and prosper.
