We strive wherever possible to ensure that our packaging is as environmentally friendly and recyclable as current technology allows and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint by both reducing the amount of packaging we use and the proportion of non-recyclable elements
in it.

Tetrapak

We use Tetrapak as our principal form of packaging since it has the lowest carbon footprint of any rigid beverage pack. Tetrapak is made from sustainable wood fibres from managed forests which are continually replanted when trees are felled so that the natural balance of nature is disturbed as little as possible.

Tetrapak cartons may be recycled and bins are available at most local recycling centres for this purpose.

The actual Tetra packaging material is delivered to us on reels that are then made into cartons and filled. As a consequence just one truck can carry enough packaging for nearly one million, 1 litre cartons whereas the equivalent one million glass bottles would take over fifty truck journeys. This effectively saves 1,250 truck journeys every year and the resulting pollution and emissions caused.

Plastic

In instances where plastic is currently the only viable or practical option, such as for our dessert and yogurt pots, we are continuing to investigate alternative materials as well as introducing improvements to our existing packaging.

For example by using printed, recyclable cardboard and paper sleeves for our dessert and soya yogurt pots the quantity of plastic needed in the actual pots has been reduced to the barest minimum - the component parts being easily separated for recycling.
